I bought an amazing canna plant this year which thrived all summer. It's in a large pot, in potting compost, sunny position. In the last couple of weeks the leaves are turning brown/black. The compost is dry to the touch. Is this normal for them in winter? Do I need to put fleece around them? How about watering?
I've asked a question about budblight on rhododendron previously. I'm also noticing that the lower part of the same plant (stem/bark) is turning yellow and brown. I've seen some vine weevil grubs in my lawn previously, and now I'm worried if this yellowing could be from vine weevils. I'm new to planting rhododendrons, so I'm not sure what 'normal' appearance is.
Earlier in the summer I was very excited to see my rhododendron set so many flower buds, but now I'm noticing that most of them are turning brown. Is this bud blight? If so, can I stop the problem?
