Hi Gerry, I sowed seed in trays about 2 weeks ago.Lots have germinated but a good no. are falling over and dieing when about 15-20mm.high. I am keeping the compost damp. Any ideas?
Acacia baileyana 'Purpurea', purchased five years ago, in flower, has not flowered since, and gas hardly grown. The leading shoot has died off but the rest looks healthy. Shaded for part of the day by other trees. Well drained soil. Should I move it to more sunshine? Why does it not flower?

Hello I am wondering about planting beech and hedgerow around my newly built house. I am wondering when is the planting season over?
We moved in to a new house 2 years ago. We have a space of approx. 40ft x 50ft which we hope to plant as an orchard and small veg patch. We want to sow varieties of cooking apples, eating apples, plums, pears and maybe cherry trees. Somebody mentioned to us to get dwarf varieties, then we would be able to pick the fruits easily - would you agree? Also what type of each species would you recommend? Also what breed of rhubarb is nice - want to cook with it, so need a sweet variety. Thank you Muriel
