Gerry,I was at a Garden Show recently and was told by a company selling organic compost that Bark Mulch is bad for shrubbery beds or for on top of weed blanket as it takes nutrients from the soil. Is this correct? They said they had received a circulation from Coillte......Thanks

The fruits are uaffected, but two canes have no leaves or fruits at all. And appear to have died. What should I do to protect my other canes. I have about 40 canes in all running north to south. Dear Gerry, I was given a few lilly bulbs a few years ago, I planted them near a stone wall, every year they produced good stems but the flower buds were all turned downward. This year I moved them thinking they might have been too close to the wall. They are now in a bed with plenty space but alas the same problem. Plenty buds on top of each stem but turned downwards, and open into small wimpish flowers, not the great show of flowers they should give. Help?
