I transplanted several courgette seedlings into a bed about a month ago, and one after another, three of them were sliced through the stem at soil level and were left lying there.Would a cutworm be likely to be the problem here? Would it attack these two plants? Can you think of anything else that might be to blame?

My neighbour's large sycamore tree reaches over into my garden, where I am growing various vegetables for consumption. It is not the end of the world, I suppose, but is there anything that can be done to lessen the problem?
