Hi I want to plant flowering trees and shrubs around a deck area to give shelter while sitting but I live windy site can you suggest some trees and shrubs that will give some colour during the Summer. ?

I unfortunately stripped the bark from the base of a very young brich when strimming. The damage is about an inch in length but doesnt go completely around the tree. What can I do to save the tree or is it a lost cause.
