I have a 10m high beech tree. The leaves at the top half of it seem to all have brown blotches and are dying, the bottom half has some but is still in a much better state. 2 years ago a similiar tree about 15m away died. A close by beech hedge is struggling with aphids but the large beech does not appear to have any. What is causing this. Can the tree be saved by cutting the top half.
