I need to replace 100 ft of dead escallonia hedge. What would you recommend for an exposed site with heavy, clay soil thats relatively easy to maintain? I'd like to maintain it at 5-6 ft high? I was considering variagated holly? Any advice please and thank you.

I planted 3 X 1 foot tall Thuya Rheingold dwarf conifers last spring but I want to move them 2 feet forward. When's the best time to do so?

I've completely removed an 86 foot long escallonia hedge. I've decided on Laurel as a replacement. Which is the best choice, bare root (2 Euros apx per plant) or potted (3.50 upwards per plant). As I'm investing alot of time and energy on this project, I want to make the right decision. Finally, how far apart would you recommend.

Please can you advise me on how to get my 6 year old Fatsia Japonica, which is planted oudoors in light shade, to shed it's yellowing leaves and grow lush, shiny green ones as does another I have growing in a container. The soil is heavy, clay and alkaline in nature.Thid is an ongoing challange and feeding with either general fertiliser or ericacious ( 'twas worth a try!) feed has proved mediocre at best.

Hi Gerry, I have a cactus house plant just like the winter flowering cactus which produces cerise coloured flowers in winter, however mine produces orange flowers in summer, or rather it DID! Now it just produces luscious green glossy cactus leaves, some buds but it hasn't flowered in years! What do you advise re best location and/or any special treatment to encourage flowering? Thank you.
