When pruning our apple tree today we noticed some branches on one side had twisted shoots - looked like a witch hazel tree! What would cause this? Is it a disease? It is more than 40 years old and is a keeper apple, not sure of the name but has upright growth and long high branches. We live in Shankill close ot the railway line and the sea.
How should I deal with what looks like a mushroom fungus that has appeared in the last few weeks on the stump of an apple tree that was cut down about 3 years ago? The stump is flush with the grass.
Can I put rhubarb leaves in my composter?I understand they are posionous to eat but does that change when they have rotted down with other garden waste? Many Thanks, VReid
