THE OPPORTUNITY THOUSANDS OF RACES
With thousands of applicants signing up for the XTRI World Tour World Championship, Norseman, Stuart saw a great opportunity to spread the word about all of the unique XTRI experiences around the world. By using the RaceID profile as a basis for communication, the family of XTRI World Tour races have been able to cross promote the events and inspire more triathletes to compete in new places.
About XTRI
The XTRI World Tour is the triathlon world tour that is like no other. Born in the Norwegian fjords in 2003 when Hårek Stranheim created the Norseman, the tour has developed into a world wide series with races in the most unexpected places ranging from the Moroccan desert to the mountains of Himalaya. All XTRI World Tour races are organized by independent race organizers, but the races share a common set of rules and the fact that they all are exceptional experiences in special places. In 2019 XTRI World Tour partnered with RaceID to create one digital place for the XTRI World Tour Participant Community.
Stuart McInnes is the CEO of XTRI World Tour and the co-founder of Celtman Extreme Triathlon. When deciding to team up with RaceID, Stuart aimed to enhance the digital experience for the XTRI World Tour participants and join a platform with continuous development.
A digital XTRI World Tour experience on RaceID
Each XTRI World Tour participant has their own personal XTRI World Tour digital space. The space that is integrated in the racers RaceID profile contains the latest news from XTRI World Tour, XTRI World Tour ballot chances, historical data and more. The joint goal of the partnership is to continue and improve the digital experience for all XTRI World Tour participants and launch new services that will inspire a new generation of adventurers.
XTRI World Tour going virtual with the concept “MyXTRI”
In 2020 most of the races in the XTRI World Tour had to be postponed due to the pandemic. Together with RaceID the tour and organizers have done multiple Virtual events with great outcome. Challenges have included everything from climbing the altitude meters of all mountains in XTRI World Tour, completing a full Extreme Triathlon together with the organizer behind Himalayan XTRI and the Norseman Festival of Climbing during the summer.
“The main goal for us doing the Virtual Race events have been to engage the XTRI World Tour community in a year when the races have been cancelled or postponed. Through the events we have been able to engage racers across the globe and stay relevant to our community. The digital challenges have been a huge success with thousands of participants”.
– Stuart McInnes, Director of XTRI World Series
